Computer students were treated to an important online security talk recently from a local police officer.
Police Constable (PC) Scott Robertson delivered a detailed and informative presentation outlining the dangers to be found online and how to avoid them.
PC Robertson, said: “People today increasingly live their lives online, so it’s as important to us that we try to help people stay safe in that environment, just as we would in the real world. Young People particularly are very in tune with what’s happening online, but maybe don’t always consider the risks, so it’s great to be able to share some of our knowledge with them”
Vivien Gallacher, Curriculum Manager in FVC’s Creative Industries, responsible for the Computing section, said: “It is great to have such high calibre professional guest speakers such as Scott coming in to talk to our students. Presentations enhance the innovative teaching that goes on in our department and their experience is sure to inspire and benefit all the students who attended.”
