A fundraising effort involving the sale of tales in the written word will help animals with their own distinctive tails in the Forth Valley area.

Forth Valley College’s Learning Resource Centre has been selling second hand books for the last six months and has raised £200 for the Cats Protection charity.

Sarah Reid, Neutering Officer for the whole of Scotland and Leigh Johnston a volunteer with the charity were on hand at the recent Alloa Freshers’ Fair (September 20) to accept the money from Chris Duff FVC’s Learning Resource Assistant.

Chris, said: “We were delighted to sell the books for such a worthy cause. At 30p a book that’s a lot of books bought by students and staff … just purrfect!”

Sarah Reid, said: “Cats Protection would like to say a huge thank you to everyone at Forth Valley College for their kind donation which will really help us care for local cats. If there are any cat loving staff or students that would like to volunteer with us we’re looking for help with a variety of exciting roles, in particular with helping to promote our newly launched £5 Snip & Chip campaign. Please contact Sarah on 0797 6432709 or Sarah.Reid@cats.org.uk for more details.”
