A MSP has praised the work of a Forth Valley College BA Art and Design student in the Scottish Parliament.

Mid-Scotland and Fife Conservative MSP Alexander Scott raised a motion recently in the Parliament in praise of Jade Scott (26) from Fishcross, Clackmannanshire, whose impressive 700 image photo-art displayed at Forth Valley College’s end of year show, landed her a spot at a prestigious Scottish exhibition.

Her work was noticed by Malcolm Dickson Art Director at Street Level Photoworks, who had just popped in to the free Degree and Diploma show on the spur of the moment, after visiting another event in Stirling.

He liked Jade’s work so much that he has invited her to display 96 of her documentary style still pictures – depicting her life every day since the start of 2019 – at the Futureproof 2019 Exhibition at Dunoon’s Burgh Hall from Saturday 24 August until Sunday 22 September.

The motion, stated: “That the Parliament congratulates Jade Scott from Fishcross, who is a BA Art & Design student at Forth Valley College, on, it understands, being the first person studying there to have their work displayed at this prestigious exhibition...” and that it, “commends Jade on her excellent work thus far, and wishes her all the very best.”

Jade, said: “I am very excited and honoured that I have been chosen to show my work at the exhibition. Usually it is art and photographic students from the Glasgow School of Art, Duncan of Jordanstone in Dundee or from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, who get invited to exhibit at this event, so I am very proud to be the first from Forth Valley College.”
