A group of Norwegian educationalists visited Forth Valley College's Stirling Campus recently (Friday 3 June) to explore possibilities of partnership links across several departments.
The group consisted of rectors and senior staff from various colleges and further education establishments -as well as officials from the local authorities - based in Moreand Romsdal on Norway's West Coast.
Mr. Roger Fylling, the Rector of Ørsta College - a pure skills /vocational college - was particularly interested in possible links to subjects such as: Electrical energy, Automation, Workshop Machinery, Industrial Technology, Catering, Health work, Work with children and young people. He was also interested in exploring the themes of 'Increased completion of further education' or 'How to prevent drop out rates in further education' and was open to both lecturer and student exchanges within a strategic partnership.
Jennifer Tempany, Head of FVC's Business Development Department - who led the tour on the day accompanied by Sarah Higgins from Care, Health and Sport and Aiveen Cassidy and Craig Anderson from the Hospitality and Salon Services Department, said: "We were delighted to welcome the Norwegian delegation to the Stirling Campus and give them a tour of our state-of-the-art facilities. They seemed impressed with what the college has to offer and we hope that we might be able to work together with them on various initiatives in the future."
