Owners of engineering firms in the Forth Valley area were out in force at an event to launch Forth Valley College’s updated Modern Apprenticeship (MA) in Engineering on Monday 29 February.
As part of Scottish MA Week 2016, the exciting updated MA in Engineering was showcased to around 20 engineering companies at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus from 12pm-2pm.
The updated MA model will mean that apprentices can be skilled and qualified quicker, making it a more cost effective option for employers. The model will also include an increased vocational training element, ensuring that apprentices have enhanced practical skills upon completion of their apprenticeship and this can be boosted further by opting for an additional hand skills programme.
Lunch was provided for those attending and delegates were also able to meet employers currently working in partnership with the College and tour the state-of-the-art engineering facilities at the campus.
Forth Valley College Principal, Dr Ken Thomson, said:
“It was great to see so many representatives from Forth Valley’s engineering sector attending this event. Here at Forth Valley College we pride ourselves on offering Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) expertise and facilities that are second to none in Scotland.
“We are confident that events like this one, to showcase the updated MA in Engineering model, will allow our business partners who send their apprentices to us to feel confident they will receive the best industry training possible.”
Alastair Lamond from Lamond and Murray Ltd said:
“This is our first visit to the College and we’ve been thoroughly pleased with what we’ve heard today. We also recently sent our first apprentice here and it’s been a good opportunity to find out about their progress. The event has given me confidence that we’ve made the right decision to choose Forth Valley College as a training provider.”
Thomas Lapsley, also from Lamond and Murray Ltd said:
“We were really impressed with the kit and resources available at the College and it was beneficial to see the learning environments. Forth Valley College are excellent at keeping us informed of our apprentice’s progress and providing assurance at key milestones.”
