Forth Valley Student Association were delighted to donate funds raised at recent Refreshers' Fairs to the new Maggie’s Forth Valley Centre – the college’s named charity for this academic year.

A total of £297.02 was presented to Maggie’s Ambassador Lachlan McGowan at the Falkirk Campus by members of the FV SA Executive team – Alan Buchan, Amy Scobbie, Lynne McClelland and FVC Student Liaison Officer Angela Muirhead – on Thursday 16 March as their named charity for this academic year.

Kerry Scott, Centre Fundraising Manager, Maggie’s Forth Valley, said:

“A very big thank you once again from everyone at Maggie’s to Forth Valley College for their continued support. We are extremely grateful to all the students and staff fundraising for Maggie’s Forth Valley and making a difference to local people affected by cancer.”

Alan Buchan, said:

“We are once again happy that we were able to work with the student body to raise this money for such a worthy cause. At the recent Refreshers' Fairs our students raised were happy to donate to this excellent cause. We hope we can raise even more funds in the near future at other FV SA events until the end of the academic year.”

Maggie’s provides free practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their family and friends, following the ideas about cancer care originally laid out by Maggie Keswick Jencks. Built in the grounds of NHS cancer hospitals, Maggie’s Centres are places with professional staff on hand to offer the support people need.

The new Centre in Larbert is located in the grounds of Forth Valley Royal Hospital and was officially opened on Thursday 16 March.
