A global construction accessories company have laid the foundation of future learning by donating new bricklaying aids, to help Forth Valley College students learn about the latest tools of the trade.

Leviat – who are based in Sheffield – were approached by FVC Construction Lecturer John Denholm to see if they could help them source some of the new ‘Wind Posts’ (restraints for masonry walls), which are starting to be used throughout the building trade.

The company came to the rescue and saw to it that delivery of the latest Ancon  branded wind posts were despatched to FVC’s Falkirk Campus to be installed in the bricklaying workshop.

Lecturer John Denholm, who is pictured here (right) showing a bricklaying MA the new posts, said: “This equipment is being used more and more throughout the construction industry, and I thought I would reach out to Leviat to see if they might be able to send us a sample and they have come up trumps. I was very impressed with how helpful Leviat have been and can’t thank them enough for sending out this sample equipment.

“I have never used them myself either, so it has been great to see them up close and to let the students actually touch and feel what they would be like to use, rather than just show them a film online. They really make a difference in that regard and will be beneficial for our students to see in the workshop, just in case they come across them in the actual workplace.”

Lisa Sherburne-Kilby, Commercial Operations Director from Leviat, said: “Leviat are extremely proud to support the development and training of the future talent of the construction industry. We were delighted to be able to help John and Forth Valley College with their high quality training, and hope that utilising our Ancon Windposts will help in this training.”
