Seven current and former Forth Valley College students have collaborated on a fascinating photographic exhibition, as part of the Stirling Photography Festival.
‘Lenswork: The Forth Valley College Collection’ is being hosted by Made In Stirling in King Street and features photographic work from Kara Boland, Emma Fergus, Ashley Forsyth, Rhys Norris, Callum Milligan, David Chapman and Charles McGuigan, until Saturday 28 September.
It forms the first port of call on a seven stop Exhibition Trail through the City Centre, including Unorthodox Roasters, Go Gorth Stirling, Tolbooth, Café Pompei, Ginger Roots and The Barracks Conference Centre.
Kara Boland (45) from Banknock recently completed the BA Art and Design course. She said: “This is the first time I have ever exhibited my work to the public outwith the College, and the experience has been great. During the BA Art and design course at Forth Valley College we were inspired throughout by other media and introduced to other aspects of the Creative Industries and that has helped us all. I have really enjoyed it and I would recommend the course and the College to anyone.”
Emma Fergus (32) from Stirling, who is on the HND Photography, said: “This is also the first exhibition of my work and I have another one planned for October. It is a great feeling to see your work hanging up on display and the College, the course and the lecturers have all been so good and helpful to enable us to get to this point.”
Rhys Norris (21) from Stirling, who is currently on the BA Art and Design, said: “I am definitely excited by this exhibition and can’t wait to see what the reaction is to all our work. I would recommend anyone to study Creative Industries at Forth Valley College and having my work exhibited like this at the end is a great pay off for all my hard work. There really is a wide range of different styles on display and it would be well worth a visit for anyone.”
Ashely Forsyth (35) from Doune, has just completed her BA Art and Design and is now running her own business called Photos By Forsyth. She, said: “This is the first time I have displayed my work since leaving College and it has given me and my peers a great boost in confidence. Here at Made in Stirling we have a lot of creatives coming together and showing their work in an excellent community space.
“We really are so thankful to Made In Stirling to allow us to exhibit our work here as part of the Stirling Photography Festival, and we hope that ‘Lenswork – The Forth Valley College Collection’ will be a great stop on the festival’s Exhibition Trail. Why not drop in for a look around?”
