Lecturers from Forth Valley College went back to school on Tuesday 6 February to give first year Larbert High School pupils an insight into the Creative Industries.
The college’s Department of Creative Industries was only too happy to send four lecturers: Brian Smith (Photography), Peter Flett (Sound Production), Staci Rowlinson (Art and Design) and Emma McNair (Digital Media) to the high school to deliver taster workshops in Photo Painting, Sound Recording, Poster Design and Film-making respectively, to the eager youngsters.
Steph Toms Curriculum Manager in the Department of Creative Industries, said: “It was a real pleasure to go along and speak to the Larbert High School first year pupils who were all really enthusiastic and eager to learn new skills. It is great to work with Larbert High school and we thank them for the opportunity. We are sure this will help inspire the pupils to think about the subjects in the Creative Industries as career paths in the future.”
Mairead MacFadyen, S1 Curricular leader for Expressive Arts at Larbert High School, said: “Thank you to the fantastic lecturers from Forth Valley College who delivered exciting and engaging practical workshops to our first years on Tuesday 6 February. There was a huge buzz around the corridors as pupils participated in Painting with Light, Media and Communication, Graphic Design and Sound Design for Film workshops. The Creative Careers event for S1 pupils at Larbert High School has certainly opened young minds to the skills and potential career paths an education in Creative Industries can lead to.”
