Former student Lauren Sinclair hopes to encourage Scotland – and Forth Valley College students and staff - to jingle all the way on Christmas Eve to lift spirits and communities blighted by the Covid 19 pandemic.
Lauren (36), from Carronshore, Falkirk studied Childcare at the old Falkirk College of Technology from 2001-2004, who now works as a support worker for the Priory Group helping adults with learning disabilities, has become Scotland’s biggest ambassador for the Worldwide Santas Christmas Eve Jingle and has notched up 270,000 Scottish followers for the event at 6pm on Christmas Eve!
Her caring nature prompted her to find ways of trying to bring some Christmas cheer into the lives of friends, relatives and neighbours and communities across the country. She discovered a Facebook site dedicated to encourage bell ringing community participation in England and reckoned she could promote something similar in Scotland.
Mother of four Lauren, said: “The Christmas Eve jingle is all about bringing communities together who have been separated by Covid 19. We want to bring the Christmas spirit back to everyone and enjoy the festive period instead of completely focusing on this silent virus.
“I originally saw it on a different Facebook group down in England and joined. I then thought I’d be the only house in Carronshore doing it, so decided on making my own local Forth Valley group. It has now gone a lot wider than that, and we now have almost 270k members joining in with us.
“On Christmas Eve at 6pm, we want everyone to join us on their own doorsteps and jingle their bells for two minutes. We hope they will also sing songs and chat with neighbours and they could really make someone’s day – especially those who are shielding for health reasons and may not see anyone."
The Facebook page to join is called Worldwide Santas Christmas Eve Jingle. Anyone is free to add the page and join in on the build up to Christmas with people from all over the world.
