Gym assistant Kasia Slapek is taking the fight against cancer quite literally by signing up for a Mixed Martial Arts fight night at Alloa Town Hall.

She has signed up for the event on Saturday 18 May to raise cash for Cancer Research UK and has been gearing up for the event with an eight week free training programme through Ultra MMA https://www.ultra-mma.co.uk/events/alloa/#  .

Katarzyna ‘Kasia’ Slapek (32), from Falkirk, who is also a HNC Fitness, Health and Exercise student, is hoping that college staff and her fellow students can support her in raising as much as possible for this worthwhile cause and can  donate via her Just Giving page (link below).

Kasia, said: “Cancer Research needs financial support and there is lots of things taking place to help with funding. I decided to take part in this event in memory of my friend – a wife and mother of three – who died from cancer about a month before Christmas 2018. Her name was Kasia too and she was an awesome human being, and was a heavyweight category fighter, but unfortunately this story has finished with sadness. That’s why we need to support the cancer research charity by donations and this support will help to reduce the numbers of those stories with sad endings.”

Wai Mun Lee, FVC’s Leisure Facilities Coordinator, said: “We are all very proud of what Kasia is doing and we wish here all the best in raising as much money as possible for a good cause.”

Tickets for the event at Alloa Town Hall cost £20 and can be purchased through the Ultra-MMA website.
