A beautiful beach scene nail concept helped a Forth Valley College student to hammer home a win at the Scottish Beauty Show recently.

Inga Vladyko (32) from Falkirk – a Level 3 nail Services student based at the Alloa Campus – won the Student Nail Box category at the event which was held at the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston near Edinburgh in April.

A former art student, Inga recently turned her attentions to working on nails and her creativity shone through as she created a stunning beach scene to reflect the category’s ‘Ibiza’ theme.

She said:

“I had been working on and off on my design for more than two months. I wanted to show that Ibiza is not just about ‘partying’ and wanted to show how beautiful it is as an island. I was very happy with the results and it is one of the best things I have done.

“On the morning I found out I had won by looking online, I woke my partner up because I was shouting and screaming with joy, it was so funny. Winning the student category is just amazing, but as I said to myself when I entered the competition ‘go big or go home’!”

Inga has found inspiration from nail artist Dorota Palicka who has visited the college to give workshops on 4d and One Stroke nail art techniques, but she also can’t say enough about her lecturers and the facilities at the college.

She went on: “I love it here at the college it is such a beautiful place. If you are struggling with anything you can easily get the help you need, Kathryn Baird one of my lecturers has been amazing. I would definitely recommend the Salon Services courses at the college.”

FVC Nail Services Lecturer Kathryn Baird, said: “It has been a pleasure from day one to work with Inga, her motivation and work ethic has made teaching her very easy.  Inga has a natural artistic flair and to see it develop over the last two years has been inspirational.”
