Cricket Scotland teamed up with Forth Valley College Sports Department to deliver an ‘All Star Cricket’ taster session to students recently.

The event – held on Thursday 28 September in the Falkirk Campus sports hall - was an opportunity for sports students to get involved in a voluntary capacity and experience learn the basics and more from Ian Shaw, Stephen Sutton and Helen Sutton from Cricket Scotland.

Hopefully the session will have inspired future sports coaches to become voluntary “All Stars Activators” and help encourage more cricket throughout Forth Valley and the West Lothian region.

All Stars Cricket is a brand new initiative aimed at providing children aged five to eight with a great first experience in cricket throughout Forth Valley Region. It is a fun and active way to develop children’s skills, co-ordination, fitness as well as making new friends in a safe and inclusive environment.

FVC’s Leisure Facilities Coordinator, Waimun Lee, said: “This was an amazing opportunity for our sports students to gain valuable voluntary coaching experience in cricket. This positive link we now have with Cricket Scotland will not only encourage cricket throughout numerous communities, but also improve the physical health and wellbeing of children, so it’s a win, win situation for all parties.”

Ian Shaw, from Cricket Scotland, said: “We are delighted to be building a relationship with Forth Valley College. We see this as being a long lasting arrangement and look forward to mentoring Forth Valley College students through Cricket Scotland.”
