Two students from Forth Valley College’s Hospitality Department have been chosen for HIT Scotland Scholarships.
NC Bakery student Jack Eadie will visit the Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne, Switzerland later this year, as part of a Scottish delegation on a special bursary course, and HND Hospitality Management student Issac Watson will undertake a UK scholarship in a high standard restaurant or hotel.
FVC Hospitality Curriculum Manager Paul Cunningham joined lecturers Arnelle Hall, Mandy Fraser a group of HND Event Management, HND Hospitality Management and NC Bakery students to the HIT Scotland Talent Conference 2023 on Thursday 2 February at the Voco Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow.
The aim of the HIT Scotland scholarship is to give an insight into the hospitality industry from a new perspective. Its purpose is to provide scholars with knowledge about how Scotland can improve its hospitality industry and be even more successful. Ecole hôtelière de Lausanne was founded in 1893 and was the world's first hospitality management school.
Paul, said: “The conference had a range of key note speakers and seminars all centred around a theme of empowering future managers and leaders within the Hospitality sector.
“At the end of the conference scholarships were awarded to applicants who had applied. Issac, was awarded a Hospitality scholarship somewhere in the UK, and Jack Eadie (NC Bakery) was awarded a scholarship in Skills – Patisserie in Lausanne. We are so very proud of them and can’t wait to hear how they get on during their scholarships.”
