Work based assessors at Forth Valley College have received glowing feedback from Awarding Body External Verification visits, praising their work in supporting learners to progress through their apprenticeships during the challenging last 18 months.
Work based learning at the College covering Engineering, Construction and the Multi Discipline assessor teams has been praised especially in the use of evidence such as One-File, MS Teams, video evidence and expert witness statements, showing that the team have adapted their work based assessment approach and successfully kept students progressing well throughout with a high achievement rate.
During the initial campus closure assessors worked with candidates from across the full range of essential multi discipline areas. The team maintained regular contact and continued to motivate their learners through challenging times. EVs have picked up on this across the range of discipline areas and this is recognised in successful External Verification reports across all of the Vocational Qualification areas from a range of awarding bodies including SQA and City and Guilds.
Kenny MacInnes, FVC’s Vice Principal Learning and Student Experience, said: “This is great news for the college. The teams across a range of disciplines who support our apprentices in gaining their trade qualifications have been excellent, despite the challenges of working throughout a pandemic lockdown and all the barriers that entails. They should be very proud of themselves and the College is very proud of them for all the hard work they do to help students progress.”
