FVC’s Girls’ Festive Day Out charity event - organised by students and staff from the Salon Services team – has raised £2,342 for the Strathcarron Hospice charity.
FVC’s Salon at the Raploch Community Campus was a hive of activity on Saturday 25 November as the event welcomed a large crowd to showcase the best beauty products, treatments, fashion and style on offer on the high street. A range of demonstrations and girls’ treats were also on offer throughout the event.
Students from the Level 3 Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy courses were in the thick of the action on the day organising demonstrations such as: hair up, curls, hair glitter, smokey eye, brow and hand and arm massage.
There were also other hair treatments and mini-facials on offer, as well as file and polish, gel nails and back, neck and shoulder massages from the beauty therapists. The second year HND Beauty Therapy students also produced fantastic work to help the catwalk models produce a stunning show on the day.
FVC Hospitality and Salon Services lecturer, Elizabeth Foran, said: “All Salon Services staff are immensely proud of all of our hairdressing and beauty therapy students who worked together with passion and enthusiasm to make the day such a success. It was important to everyone to not only raise a fantastic amount of money for a charity very close to our hearts, but to raise the awareness of the amazing work the charity does at a time when help and care are most needed.”
Fiona Dolan McNeill also Salon Services Lecturer, said: "The second year HND students took part in an exciting catwalk event and this was part of their 'Employment Experience 2 and Make up for Special Occasions' units. They worked really hard to decide on a theme with myself and fellow lecturer Lisa Robertson. The themes included ’Under the Sea’, ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘Ancient Egypt’. The models were enthusiastic and coupled with the learners' creative ideas resulted in a fantastic show."
