Forth Valley College’s ongoing partnership with South Eastern Regional College (SERC) in Northern Ireland grew stronger recently with vital input from FVC’s Learning and Digital Skills Academy (LDSA) Team.
The LDSA Team designed and facilitated learning sessions at SERC's INVEST corporate services staff development conference from 24-26 January.
Lisa MacLaren (SERC Project Lead), Jennifer Nisbet (LDSA Project Lead), Brian Banks (VLE End User Support Officer) and Caroline McConnachie (LDSA Mentor and Lecturer) visited SERC’s Bangor and Lisburn campuses to facilitate topics including Assertiveness and Personal Impact, Neurodiversity and Innovation in Teams, Sustainability and Teambuilding, as well as showcasing VR capabilities of the Oculus Quest 2 kit to SERC colleagues.
During the visit, the team also supported SERC’s Learning Academy with design of Project-Based Learning (PBL) training, and spent time sharing best practice with counterparts across various college areas.
The two-day conference, attended by more than 240 members of SERCs corporate services teams, offered staff training in personal development, career development and health and wellbeing, with extremely positive feedback received for FVC’s sessions.
Lisa MacLaren, SERC Project Lead, said: “The trip to SERCs Bangor and Lisburn campuses provided both learning academies with an invaluable experience, working together onsite to deliver CPD opportunities to corporate services staff from SERC’s four campuses. Spending time together also further strengthened our partnership, consolidating our network and enabling the development of future projects.”
