Two new electrical courses are now being offered at Forth Valley College to tap into the demand for updating qualifications and supporting the push towards Net Zero targets – and an appeal has gone out to interested applicants to register their interest.
In order to support the seismic shift to zero emission vehicles, Forth Valley College is delighted to announce that they have added the two-day City & Guilds Electrical Vehicle Charging Level 3 course to their portfolio.
The UK Government announced its Road to Zero strategy in November 2020, outlining the target that all sales of new petrol and diesel cars will end by 2030. This will see a move to zero emission vehicles for the wider population. It is projected that the UK will require an additional 29,000 electric vehicle charging points by 2030, in order to meet significant growth of the electric vehicle sales.
This course will enable successful candidates to carry out electrical vehicle charging equipment installation – in domestic dwellings, on-street locations, commercial and industrial premises. The course will cost £395 per candidate.
In addition, Forth Valley College have also added the five-day City and Guilds 2391-52 Inspection and Testing (Combined Initial Verification and Periodic Inspection) course to its portfolio. This is intended for experienced electricians who have never gained formal qualifications in inspection and testing, or those who may wish to update and reaffirm their skills.
This is an advanced training course which equips candidates with skills essential to provide periodic inspection and testing services. The price for this course will be £995 per candidate.
The college is working to add these courses to its schedule and course dates will be confirmed in due course. FVC are appealing for those interested to register their interest as soon as possible so that they can be contacted when course dates become available.
FVC Commercial Growth Manager, Miles Lagan said: “Here at Forth Valley College we pride ourselves in being able to second guess what our clients in industry need and are looking for in the way of new courses, and we believe these two new courses will generate a lot of interest among those in the electrical installation sector.
“We look forward to hearing from anyone who feels they can benefit from them, as our extensive knowledge and expertise will help them reinforce their qualifications and also arm them with the latest skills to meet the demand of a society that is quickly moving towards electric vehicles”.
