A Business and Communities lecturer teamed up with Forth Valley Chamber of Commerce to organise an event recently to strengthen links between the college and local firms and organisations.
Forth Valley Sensory Centre, Johnston Carmichael, Quickblock, QSE, Diamond Industrial, Tidy Green Clean, Candle Shack Ltd, Stirling Highland Hotel, Scottish Autism all attended the networking event at the Antonine Suite in the Falkirk Campus on Friday 20 May.
The purpose was to build collaborative relationships with local businesses , demonstrate what Forth Valley College’s Department of Business and Communities and the Department of Business Development has to offer, including the different types of funding available to businesses. The event also wanted to focus on listening to the needs and wants of the local commerce to assess how Forth Valley College can respond to local demands. As this was the departments first face to face event since restriction have been lifted it was also important to showcase our Falkirk Campus.
Patricia Setchfield, a Lecturer in the Department of Business and Communities, said: “I wanted to create an event where we could promote the courses that we offer and make connections with our local businesses to hear what they need from FVC. I worked closely with David Cunningham a Marketing and Events Executive from the Chamber of Commerce and his colleague Christie Frail to create an event that they could market to their members.
“We also wanted to highlight that we can develop courses to suit their needs, be it short courses or professional courses and the feedback we have had so far seems to be very positive. All in all it has been a very worthwhile event and we hope to build on these relationships we have created in the future.”
