Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus hosted the recent Duke of Edinburgh Award Conference.
More than 100 delegates attended the event held in FVC’s Antonine Suite on Saturday 4 March and the venue, audio video facilities and hospitality laid on during the day, helped those visiting enjoy the day.
Ashleigh Rosie, Business Support Manager – Scotland, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, said: “Thanks to Forth Valley College for all their hard work and support at our recent conference. We were delighted with the venue and catering, and wouldn’t hesitate to use your facilities again.”
Feedback from those attending included:
- “Lunch was very good and the general organisation was good.”
- “The venue was excellent and the catering / lunch was outstanding.”
- “Thank you, it was great - the location and catering were perfect as well.”
Iain Calder, FVC’s Hospitality Coordinator, said: “We were delighted to host the Duke of Edinburgh Award Conference. They really were a pleasure to deal with and we are glad their event went well. It is the first time the Falkirk Campus has really managed to open up the new facilities to a full blown conference event using all the space, facilities and hospitality available and we are really happy with the feedback we have received from DofE. We look forward to hosting them again in the future.”
Staff and students were also in attendance on the day as FVC Lecturer Andy Wake and two of his Workstart students supported workshop activities and spoke about their own experiences.
Kate Somervail, Operations Manager at the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, said: “We were delighted to have Lecturer Andy Wake and two students from the FVC Workstart course to support our workshop on Additional Support Needs and Inclusion.
“The students, Luke and Tom, spoke about their personal experiences, the skills they had learned and how it has helped them, and the success of the partnership with the Helix Project. Andy's passion for supporting his students to learn new skills, develop their self-confidence and belief, was a real inspiration for delegates.”
