A Digital Media student has boosted his profile by landing a place on Falkirk FC’s media team.
Ellis Wilson (21) from Falkirk, who is studying for a BA (Hons) Digital Media course at Forth Valley College’s Stirling Campus, took time out recently to get involved in the first ‘Student Day’ at the Falkirk Stadium to help launch the new partnership between the club and the college.
Montrose were the visitors on the day, as were around 100 FVC students who took advantage of free tickets and some work experience opportunities and Ellis applied for one of the media roles.
Kieran Koszary, Commercial Director at Falkirk FC, said: “It was dreadful weather on the day, but we still had around 100 students attending the match, which was a great start to what I hope will become an annual event.
“However off the field is where we have had the most success and we now have a young student who is now officially part of our matchday media team.
“Our discussions centred around getting students involved on the special match day. Ellis Wilson got in in touch and after an interview at the stadium, he agreed to provide a weekly article in programme and also spend the Student Day working in our media team.
“This is exactly what the partnership is all about and Ellis is a credit to FVC. We are now giving him real life working experience which will hopefully play a major part in his future career path. We look forward to working together in the future.”
Ellis, said: “Kieran and everyone at the club was first class in not only welcoming me with open arms, but also tentative in receiving suggestions that I had going forward with the club. The first matchday experience working within the media team was highly rewarding and I look forward to working with the club in the future after the current circumstances are over. I also wish to thank FVC for handing me this exciting opportunity in the progression of my career.”
Creative Industries Curriculum Manager, Fi Milligan-Rennie, said: “This work experience at Falkirk FC will be brilliant for Ellis. We are very proud of him and can’t thank the club enough for the opportunity for him to get involved.”
