Applicants are sought for a new free ECITB Train the Painter course at Forth Valley College, which will cover every inch of knowledge needed to be hired for Industrial Application jobs in the Engineering Industry.
Created by the Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and held at the FVC Falkirk Campus, this three week long programme is designed to support and train a cohort of young people and to train applicants with the basic skills needed to be hired directly for jobs in the industry.
An added bonus for those applying is that there are four large employers, Bilfinger, Altrad, Applus and F1 Coatings keen to support this programme and grow their pool of ‘semi-skilled workers’, by guaranteeing interviews for young people on completion of this course.
Starting on Monday 12 June and running until Friday 30 June (from 9am-4pm each weekday), the course content includes:
- Industrial Applications: Health and Safety, Access, Plant and equipment, Surface Preparation, Coating Types, Coating Application, and Quality Control Output – Train the Painter orange card.
- Pre-Employment Programme (PEP): Abrasive wheels (handheld and bench mounted), CCNSG safety passport, Low risk confined space, Manual handling, Working at height and Working safely with hand and power tools.
Caroline Hogg, FVC’s Client Manager in the Business Development Department, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain valuable skills and knowledge in Industrial Coatings and enhance their prospects of employment in the engineering industry. We are delighted to be delivering this unique programme in partnership with ECITB.”
