MAs at BOSIET

A group of 12 Modern Apprentices from ECITB (Engineering Construction Industry Training Board) made a big splash at special offshore safety training recently.

The Petrofac Training Centre in Aberdeen – fitted out with special pool and ditched helicopter simulation - was the venue for Basic Offshore Safety Induction and Emergency Training (BOSIET) on Thursday 8 February for the dozen MAs whose training came under a contract between FVC and the ECITB.

The MAs have recently completed their Electrical, Mechanical or Instrumentation HNCs and the BOSIET Training is essential for them to be able to work offshore, starting at the end of May. The training course has been created to assist in meeting the initial offshore safety training, emergency response training and assessment requirements for personnel new to the offshore oil and gas industry.

David Quinney, FVC’s MA Manager, Employed Status in the Department of Business Development, said: “We are delighted this cohort of ECITB MAs have completed their courses and - now that they have undergone their BOSIET – are now able to work offshore. We wish them all the best in their careers.”
