Early Education (Level 6) students based at Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus organised a Rights Roadshow recently (Friday 18 November).
The students have been learning about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and National Certificate (NC) classes joined together and planned creative activities to demonstrate the rights of the child in action in the main hall.
Primary 1 children from Victoria Primary School in Falkirk came along and took part in six engaging learning experiences, allowing the children to realise their principle rights of ‘Non Discrimination’, ‘Best Interests of the Child’, ‘Right to life survival and development’ and ‘Right to be heard’.
As a result the students are being nominated for two FVC Open Badges, ‘Events’ and ‘Creative Learning Contribution’.
Care, Health and Sport lecturer Gemma Demsey, said: “I am so proud of all the Early Education students, they have been brilliant. A special thanks also must go to NC Pathway to Fitness, Health and Exercise students who supported the event. The students joined in and helped to finish with a calming and soothing cool down exercise routine at the end.”
