Student chefs from Forth Valley College served up success at this year’s ScotHot food, drink, hospitality and tourism trade show which took place at the SEC in Glasgow (13-14 March).

City and Guilds Level 3 Professional Cookery students Cliodhna Reid (17) from Larbert (Silver), Jordan Gardiner (18) from Falkirk (Bronze), Erin Collier (19) from Denny (Bronze) and Declan Walls (19) from Alloa (Bronze) all took home medals from the event.

They were all entered the Larder Knife Skills competition where they had to complete three different cuts of vegetables, fillet a fish and prepare a chicken for sauté, in 45 minutes.

Cliodhna, said: “I enjoyed the competition. I am happy with a silver medal, but I feel I might have done better if I had practised a bit more. I look forward to taking part in more competitions.

“I really enjoy my course here at Forth Valley College as when you are working in the Gallery Kitchen it replicates what it will be like in a real life working kitchen.”

Chef Lecturer Ruari Chatburn led the FVC ScotHot delegation to the event, said: “I am very proud of the way the students conducted themselves. They were very nervous before stepping onto the stage, but their confidence grew when they got underway and they enjoyed the experience. To top it off by coming home with all these medals and certificates really is the icing on the cake.”
