HND Event Management students based at Forth Valley College’s Stirling Campus have raised hundreds of pounds for the Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal.
A team of five first year students (pictured here from left to right) Nicola Murray, James chambers, Maariyah Yahya, Michelle O’Hara and Hazelle McCabe raised a total of £414.80 for the worthy cause by organising a Coffee Morning on Wednesday 18 May.
Student James Chambers, said: “We were tasked as part of our course to organise an event and as a team the four of us decided to organise a charitable event to help raise funds for the Red Cross Ukrainian Appeal.
“We sold raffle tickets for prizes and there was tea, coffee, water and bakes on offer both by donation or to buy. There were donation buckets available in the room on the day for cash donors, with no set amount requested as we felt this would offer inclusion for most, as they could donate only what they could afford. There were also QR codes for online donations around the College and via social media.
“Many families have been made homeless or displaced in Ukrainian society due to no fault of their own and the money will go some way to helping those suffering, whether that be from lack of food, blankets or a safe place to keep dry and warm overnight.”
