Oil and gas training expertise at Forth Valley College and INEOS, was the focus of a visit from a group of 21 employees from the China National Petroleum Corporation (CPNC) and PetroMentor recently.
On Thursday 27 and Friday 28 October the 18 senior technicians and two vice directors from CNPC and one staff member from PetroMentor – all from Beijing, participated in a two day Oil and Gas Masterclass course which involved the following:
- Pattern of Refinery production organisation
- Historical and current oil & gas facilities in Scotland
- Overview of Modern Apprenticeships (MA) within FVC
- SVQ portfolio building and post specific check out on site
- Demonstrations of distillation
- Virtual control room exercises
FVC staff members - Alan Arthur, Jim Toye, Lorna Allison and Linda Petrie - led the workshops and demonstrations laid on at the Falkirk Campus, as CNPC wanted their staff to engage in both practical and lecturer based training programmes using the college’s engineering workshops. The visiting delegation also used the trip to learn more about vocational training and modern apprenticeships.
