Scotland’s brightest ‘sparks’ headed to Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus this week (Tuesday 14 and Wednesday 15 June) to compete in a prestigious Electrical Installation competition.
National Electrotechnical Training (NET) organised the competition at the state-of-the-art electrical workshops at the new FVC campus with 15 eager Electrical Modern Apprentices from across the country taking part in a set of electrical installation tasks.
The Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT), the Training Provider for electrical apprenticeships in Scotland, are involved in the organising and judging of the competition. From this event, competitors will have the opportunity to progress to the UK Skills final in Middlesborough later this year.
Barrie McKay, Training Development Manager for the Scottish Electrical Charitable Training Trust (SECTT), said: “We value the partnership we have with NET and enjoy assisting in running regional finals across the UK. These competitions allow us to showcase the quality of electricians we produce at Forth Valley College and at other colleges across the country.”
William Forrest, FVC’s Operations Manager in the Department of Engineering and Science, said: “It is a great compliment for Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus to be selected to host this prestigious competition and we are delighted to do so. The standard of competitor has been very high indeed and I wish all of the competitors every success in their challenge to reach the UK final.”
