HND Beauty Therapy student Megan Arthur was treated to an impromptu prizegiving recently after scooping the course’s Student of the Year award.
Second year Megan (27) from Alloa was presented with a trophy and a goody bag for picking up the top prize, while classmate Xana Harding (21) also from Alloa, was gifted a goody bag as the runner-up.
Megan, who now hopes to move on to work for herself and set up her own salon, said: “I am very happy to have won. All the blood, sweat and tears has been worth it. I have enjoyed the course and would recommend it to anyone who wants to dive into Beauty Therapy, as it’s got a bit of everything.”
Xana, who also hopes to eventually set up her own business, said: “All the hard work has paid off, though coming to the end of the HND seems a wee bit surreal to me at the moment. I have enjoyed it and all the girls in the class have been amazing and I have made a lot of good friends.”
Lecturer Morag Wood, said: “Megan and Xana have been fantastic students. It was very difficult to choose between them. Deadlines were always met, and their commercial salon attendance was consistent. Both worked to a high standard to achieve their qualification. Congratulations and best wishes from all your lecturers.”
Hair and Beauty Technician Wendy Gentles, added: “It has been a pleasure to teach and support both of these students throughout their student journey, very proud of them both.”
