Sound Production Lecturer Barry Frame has taken course promotion to the next level by visiting high schools to encourage more girls to take up the subject.

Forth Valley College currently run HND, NC and a NPA Sound Production for Schools, courses and are keen to attract more young women to apply for the creative courses (more information here).

Proactive Barry was keen to move the awareness raising along even further by visiting local schools to talk about what’s on offer at the College and run a taster workshop at the same time.

He said: “I have been contacting local high schools to ask if they would like a visit from me to talk about the different pathways and progression routes and have been encouraged by the response. I visited Lornshill Academy recently to help promote the sound production courses at FVC.

“The visit was targeted at female students with the goal of encouraging more females into the industry and breaking down barriers. I also delivered a masterclass on sound design, which was extremely well received by the students and staff in attendance.

“We are thrilled to hear that Lornshill will be visiting Forth Valley College Sound Production facilities at the Stirling Campus in the next few weeks, and we hope that this visit will further inspire these young women to pursue their interests in sound production and related fields.”

Lornshill Academy Music Tech teacher Claire Bennet, said: "The visit was excellent and staff got a lot out it too as well as the students. We look forward to visiting Forth Valley College and experience another class from Barry.”

Barry will be visiting Larbert High School sometime in the next few weeks.
