Forth Valley College’s celebrated degree and diploma art exhibition returned to its pre-pandemic best, when it was launched at the FVC Stirling Campus on the evening of Thursday 1 June.

Prizes were also presented on the night to BA Art and Design students Lauren Tierney from Cumbernauld who won the Essay Prize and along with Alina Wojciechowska from Falkirk - won the Graduate Prize and an invitation to exhibit with the Society of Scottish Artists in their prestigious 131st annual exhibition in 2024.

The FVC show – which ran until Thursday 8 June - offered members of the public, students and staff the opportunity to check out work from the next generation of artists from the College’s Creative Industries Department.

The show highlighted a wide range of media including art, design, photography, sculpture, installation, video and audio created by 50 learners from the BA Art and Design, HND Contemporary Art Practice, HND Graphic Design, HND Photography and HND Art and Design, as well as showcasing the talent of students across courses in media and communication and sound production.

Kenny MacInnes, Principal of Forth Valley College, said: “This year’s End of Year show, was the first one fully back to normal since the show was curtailed due to the challenges of the lockdown. As always it was a fantastic opportunity for our students to showcase their work, which they have been creating over the last year. I am glad the public could come along and see for themselves the talent that Forth Valley College has developed a reputation for producing in this area.”

In addition Kenny presented third year BA Art and Design student Lauren Tierney from Cumbernauld with the Essay Prize, for her essay titled: 'Is it possible to be a solitary artist in today's society?' for its original and reflective line of enquiry.

On the night the Society of Scottish Artists also presented BA Art and Design students Lauren Tierney from Cumbernauld and Alina Wojciechowska from Falkirk, with the Graduate Prize and an invitation to exhibit with the SSA in their prestigious 131st annual exhibition in 2024. This prize includes two years free membership to the society, which provides opportunities and mentorship for graduating artists.
