Art and Design students held a ‘Wee Show’ with the theme of ‘Scotland’ at Forth Valley College’s Stirling Campus recently.

The ‘Wee Show’ event – was held in the Kildean Suite on Thursday 4 May from 2-7pm – and formed part of the Art and Design Portfolio Preparation course students’ Core Skills - Communication; ICT and Working With Others unit. In order to complete the units the class were given the brief to host an art exhibition.

Each piece of art reflected the student’s own thoughts and feelings on Scotland. The Exhibition was also a collaboration of the work the students have covered in their other classes – Printmaking Applied Skills; Video Project; Personal Project and Visual Presentation.

The students involved in the exhibition were: Fraser Alexander, Hannah Allan, Nathan Batchelor, Kate Booth, Ian Bownes, Scott Dixon, Amy Dungar, Iain Haugh, Vasselious Karassoglou, Robbie McCormick, Tracy McMenemy, Megan Peddie and Robert Simpson.

One student, Hannah Allan, said:

“A part of our core skills unit we as a group were challenged to hold an exhibition that will develop skills in a professional environment.  We were urged to think as a cohesive group, to overcome any individual anxieties and building our confidence for when we tackle the working world.  Each individual was asked to showcase a body of work that covered at least one of the creative disciplines taught during class tutorials.”

Core Skills Lecturer, Eleanor Seel, said:

“I am, again, so impressed with the standard of work the students have produced for this exhibition.  The work they exhibited included highly conceptual designs along with observational studies the students gathered within specific classes.  The students should all be extremely proud of the work they delivered.”
