Apprentices honoured at Parliament

Forth Valley College apprentices did the college proud at the recent Scottish Building Apprenticeship and Training Council (SBATC) awards ceremony.

Held at the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh on the evening of Wednesday 9 December, the event was attended by MSPs Annabelle Ewing and Nigel Don.

Daniel Swan a FVC Carpentry and Joinery MA was runner- up in the Adult Apprentice of the Year category, while Wood Machinist MA Jordan Porter was runner-up in the James Birnie Award for Craft Excellence: Apprentice of the Year. Jordan is pictured second from the right and Daniel is third from the left, in the group shot of the winners and nominees on the night.

In his welcome on the night Gavin Hay SBATC Chairman, said:

“I must congratulate each apprentice for reaching this final stage of the competition and wish each candidate every success in achieving their goals and ambitions as their careers progress.”

Ian Morrsion, Head of FVC’s Department of Construction, said:

“We are very proud of both Jordan and Daniel, who have worked very hard to earn their nominations. We are sure they have a very successful career ahead of them.”
