This was also the inaugural year of the June Hill Hairdressing Award for Passion and Dedication – won by Sarah-Louise Kelly.  This is award commemorated June - who sadly passed away in April this year after a short battle with cancer. She was a hairdresser for more than 50 years in the Falkirk area and worked for 43 years at Nan Smith’s Hairdressing Salon in Graham’s Road Falkirk.

Liz Foran, a Lecturer in FVC’s Hospitality and Salon Services Department who organised and hosted the event, said: “I am so proud of what all the students have achieved. They have worked so hard and the awards ceremony, is a perfect way to celebrate their success with their friends and family.

“June Hill’s passion and dedication and love of the trade and her clients made her a much loved and respected hairdresser in Falkirk and we were honoured that her family asked Forth Valley College as a centre of excellence in training in the Falkirk and surrounding area, to dedicate an award in her honour.

“The recipient, Sarah-Louise Kelly epitomised all that June stood for and showed the same dedication and love of hairdressing, which made her an obvious choice. She received an engraved trophy and gift from June’s family.  June’s daughter, Laura attended the awards along with her husband Craig, brother Paul and his wife Julie. She gave a lovely speech on the night and presented the award to Sarah- Louise.”
