One of Forth Valley College’s longest serving employees has sadly retired after 44 years of sterling service.
Learning and Teaching Manager Anne Fowler, has been an extremely popular member of staff, serving in a number of roles since starting at the old Clackmannan College in Alloa – which eventually merged with Falkirk College of Technology to become FVC in 2005.
On her last day of work on Friday 4 September 2020, she was invited into an online Zoom meeting, ostensibly to say goodbye to her immediate department, only to find dozens and dozens of her friends and colleagues – past and present – on hand to wish her all the best in her well-deserved retirement.
Anne, who in her time has held senior lecturing posts as well as being a Curriculum and Quality Advisor, said: “I thought the Zoom meeting would be a chance to say goodbye to the team I work with, but I was quite overwhelmed when I saw who had joined in the call!
“I loved my job and enjoyed working with my colleagues, some of whom had been students of mine, and will certainly miss the interaction aspect of that. In retirement I am just going to wait and see what happens, use the next few weeks and months to take stock before making any plans.”
Helen Young, FVC’s Head of Learning and Quality, said: “We actually can’t believe Anne will be leaving us. Anne will be missed very much by the Learning and Quality team and the wider college. Anne has touched many of our lives with her support and kindness over the years and we wish her a very happy and well-deserved retirement.”
