Aico - expert trainers for the installation of smoke and carbon monoxide alarms – brought their Mobile Training and Demo Unit to Forth Valley College’s Falkirk Campus on Wednesday 8 June.
Several Modern Apprentices and staff took advantage of the 90 minute sessions available which covered Aico’s Expert Installer Training, which is CPD accredited and in line with curriculum content.
Dave Richmond, AICO Regional Specification Manager (East of Scotland), said: “The opportunity for Aico to attend the College and for us to speak to first and second year Electrical students was a privilege and we are very honoured.
“We were proud to be able to spend time with these young men and women whilst they are studying for their Electrical Qualifications. As a manufacturer we are keen to impress on apprentices the many aspects of the industry they are coming into and help and support them with training on the British Standards BS-5839-6 2019 and the Scottish Building Standards. We hope our training will help and support them through their studies and familiarise them with the market leading products and the people from Aico.”
Alan Montgomery, FVC’s Commercial Trainer (Electrical Safety), said: “I connected with Dave at a regional trade event. He told me how Aico were able to come to our workplace and deliver up to date information and guidance on Fire Safety regulation and Scottish Legislation, along with installation and maintenance best practice. It then became clear very quickly that Forth Valley College and in particular our students and staff, could benefit from having Aico come and deliver their expert installer training.
“As the market leader in this area, it made sense to align our understanding with theirs and we were delighted to welcome Dave and the mobile unit to our Falkirk Campus recently. A massive thank you to all those who were able to attend this time and to the staff who supported this initiative.
“I know already - although a good number attended across the three sessions available - there is an appetite for them to return on a regular basis to support new students and staff in the future.”
