Home workout ideas

With the current circumstances we are all facing, it has never been more important to stay physically active. Exercising has many benefits, from improving your mood and wellbeing to burning energy and helping you get a better night's sleep. And if like most people, you are finding it hard to stay away from your quarantine snacks, exercising will help burn off some of those additional calories too.

So, with that in mind, we have listed below some useful online resources to help you exercise during this quarantine period:

Instagram

Several Instagram fitness professionals are delivering a range of free live workouts that can be viewed via their Instagram story.

Some examples are:

Bradley Simmonds (@bradleysimmonds)

PE with Joe Wicks (The Body Coach)

Joe Wicks is delivering live PE sessions every Monday – Friday morning, from 9am via his YouTube channel. The sessions last 30 minutes and are aimed at kids of all ages. Adults are encouraged to take part and exercise along with their kids (be warned though - we’ve tried them out and we were more out of breath than our kids!)

As well as offering live PE sessions, Joe Wicks has several home workout videos for all ages and abilities, which are also free to access via his YouTube channel.

If workouts aren’t your thing, then you could also set yourself a daily step count, which you can monitor on your phone, Fitbit or Apple watch. Try to do your daily walk, go a run or even carry out some household chores like hoovering, cutting the grass, etc. Or even simple things like when you are on the phone try to walk around the room and take regular breaks away from your computer. If you do go outside, then make sure to keep a 2-metre distance between other people.

Happy exercising, everyone!
