SVQ/MA Professional Cookery SCQF Level 6

This course aims to enable individuals to develop and enhance a wide range of existing skills to the standards required in a kitchen setting. The course will develop knowledge in regards to health, safety, hygiene, food preparation and cooking. It will also increase the commitment and motivation of staff and provide them with the opportunity to learn enhanced practical skills in a workplace environment.

Mandatory Units for MA candidates

  • 5 Core skills at SCQF level 4

Enhancements

  • Health and Safety at Work Certificate
  • Ensure Food Safety Practices are followed in the Preparation and Serving of Food and Drink (Unit PPLHSL30) or Intermediate Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Scottish Alcohol Licensing Certificate for staff working on drink service routes within Licensed Premises

  • Applicants should be in full time employment, with employers support to undertake the course.
  • A good understanding of the hospitality sector would be an advantage.
  • Candidates undertaking these qualifications should be in positions which relate to the course to enable them to provide work related evidence.
