SVQ/MA Hairdressing SCQF Level 6

Candidates must be employed within the Hairdressing and Service Industies to undertake this course.

This training course aims to establish the skills and knowledge required for a career in hairdressing and the service industries. Candidates will now expect to be taking on the role of a hair stylist responsible for carrying out many hairdressing tasks personally. They will be responsible for running your own column, managing your time and promoting and selling products whilst providing exceptional hairdressing services to every client. The course also provides assessment for training delivered both within the workplace and the College.

SVQ Hairdressing SVQF Level 6
4 Mandatory Units and 3 Optional Units, these may include:
• Provide client consultation services
• Creatively style and dress hair
• Creatively colour and lighten hair
• Creatively Cut Hair using a Combination of Techniques
As well as the above SVQ, Modern Apprenticeship candidates undertake the following:
• 5 Core Skills at SCQF Level 4

Candidates may progress to a degree is Hairdressing and Salon Management.

Applicants should be in full-time employment with employer’s approval and support to undertake the course.  A good educational background would be an advantage.  Applicants are selected by a practical interview and should have at least 12 months salon floor experience.
