SVQ/MA Electrical/Electronic Installation and Testing (Marine Engineering) SCQF Level 6

Please note candidates must be in employment to undertake this course.

Engineering covers a wide range of sectors and activities, and is a fast moving and diverse industry with many occupational routes including a significant number of roles at Technician level. Foundation Apprenticeships, Modern Apprenticeships and Graduate level Apprenticeships can be supportive in meeting the needs of the sector in many areas of engineering skills requirements.

 

Modern Apprenticeship route

Mandatory - ONE qualification from the list below MUST be completed:

Engineering SCQF Level 6 MA Framework –Sector Specific Pathway

4 Mandatory Units must be completed

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
  • Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
  • Installing cable runs and circuits in marine structures

3 Optional Units must be completed
Enhancements at NC and at Higher level 

Mandatory – (ONE qualification MUST be completed)

NC Fabrication and Welding Engineering
NC Electrical Engineering
NC Mechanical Engineering

Mandatory – (ONE qualification MUST be completed)
HNC Electrical Engineering
HNC Fabrication, Welding and Inspection
HNC Mechanical Engineering
HNC Measurement and Control Engineering

Core Skills Level 5 


SVQ only route

4 Mandatory Units must be completed

  • Complying with statutory regulations and organisational safety requirements
  • Using and interpreting engineering data and documentation
  • Working efficiently and effectively in engineering
  • Installing cable runs and circuits in marine structures

3 Optional Units musts also be completed.

Candidates may progress to an HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

Candidates must be employed by a company within the engineering industry.  They should also have four Standard Grades at Level 3 or above or the new National 5 including Maths, English, and a Technical Subject.  Higher Maths would be desirable any learner who has the potential to achieve the framework assessment criteria set out in the assessment routes.

 

There are no age limits required by learners to undertake these qualifications unless this is a legal requirement of the process or the environment. Assessment is open to all
