18th Edition City & Guilds 2382-18

The IET 18th Edition is the essential publication for all professionals working in the electrical industry, published July 2018.
These regulations are recognised by the British Standards Institute as a British Standard (BS7671).

If you're a practising electrician, you must comply with the regulations for electrical work, this qualification is designed to provide  those seeking progression in their career with the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to carry out job roles and responsibilities associated with the Electrotechnical industry.

It forms the national standard to which all new and amended electrical installations in the UK are to comply. The IET urges all electrical professionals to ensure they are familiar with the new requirements which will be in force from January 2019.

The NEW 18th Edition course will be available at Forth Valley College from August 2018 so that the highly experienced team of trainers can ensure we are ready to maintain the extremely high pass marks we achieved for candidates from the original course.

Those personnel working on the design, installation and inspection and testing of wiring systems will need to be prepared for changes from the 17th Edition which include but not limited to:

•             Additions to the scope of BS 7671
•             Changes to the disconnection times for certain circuits
•             Further requirements for circuit protection in domestic dwellings
•             Considerations for Arc Fault Detection in many installations
•             Supporting of wiring systems
•             Inspection and testing procedures.

*The 18th Edition is delivered over 3-Days with a 2 hour 60 question multiple choice exam on the 4th Day. Those who have passed their 17th Edition (3rd amendment) may prefer the shorter update course. This is delivered over 1 day with the same 2 hour exam on the following day. This has been designed for those already qualified 17th Edition (Amendment 3) candidates and only covers the changes prior to sitting the full exam.
