SVQ Social Services & Healthcare - Level 2 and Level 3

Students must be employed in a Health/Social care setting and have their employers approval for the college SVQ assessor to carry out workplace assessments

Working with adults in health and social care settings provides a rewarding career path. This programme is aimed at those already working in a care environment. It includes a Scottish Vocational Qualification at Level 2 or Level 3 in Social Services and Healthcare, providing the qualification necessary for registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC).

It will provide students with the knowledge and competencies required in health and social care sectors, by developing core and essential skills, as well as the specific vocational competencies needed in the workplace.

The course includes both vocational and academic units and students will attend college 2 days per week.

Mandatory:

  • Applicants must be employed in a care environment
  • Employer approval for SVQ assessment
  • Successful interview

Plus one of the following:

Level 2

  • Three National 4 awards including English and Maths (or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of all units within the Passport to Learning (SCQF Level 4) including core skills at Level 4
  • Applicants who do not meet these criteria, but have relevant paid workplace experience or alternative qualifications will be considered

Level 3

  • SVQ Health and Social Care Level 2 (SCQF Level 6)
  • Four National 5 awards including English (or equivalent)
  • Successful completion of the NC Child, Health and Social Care, all routes (SCQF Level 5)
  • Successful completion of all units within the NQ Health and Wellbeing (SCQF Level 5)
