This fantastic course offers an exciting opportunity to earn an SQA-accredited award at SCQF Level 5, designed to give you in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health and wellbeing.

This course is perfect for anyone interested in mental health, whether you're considering a career in the field or simply want to enhance your understanding. Gain the tools you need to make a positive impact in your community! This course is based at the Alloa campus, and will be held on Wednesday 9.30 to 2.30pm January to June 2025

This course, led by Robin Young, promises a comprehensive learning experience in Mental Health and Wellbeing. Robin, a passionate lecturer with extensive experience in Mental Health Services and Children Services, brings both expertise and enthusiasm to the program. As a co-creator of this SQA award, he actively supports its delivery across Scotland, ensuring participants receive high-quality instruction.

Throughout the course, you’ll have the opportunity to build a portfolio of evidence, a valuable resource for demonstrating your knowledge and understanding of mental health and wellbeing. Robin is eager to guide and support you in this journey, equipping you with the tools and insights needed to understand this critical field.

  • Understand the stigma surrounding mental health in today’s society and how to challenge it
  • Debunk common myths and misconceptions related to mental health

  • This courses is also suitable for people considering a career in care services as well as individuals currently working in the care sector and would qualify as CPD (Continued Professional Development). 

  • No formal qualifications are looked for, the course requires students have a genuine interest in the mental health and wellbeing of individuals.
  • You will be required to engage in class discussion and able to take part in group work.
