The Health, Fitness, and Lifestyle SCQF Level 5 course offers an exciting opportunity to gain essential knowledge in health, fitness, and lifestyle. This course provides the perfect platform to build a strong foundation in key areas of well-being. It focuses on promoting a balanced and healthy lifestyle by integrating the core elements of fitness, nutrition, mental health, and lifestyle choices.

Throughout the course, students will explore the science behind physical health, the importance of mental well-being, and how different lifestyle factors impact overall fitness and long-term health. The course is designed to equip you with both the theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to understand and promote health and fitness in various contexts.

The Health, Fitness and Lifestyle course covers a range of topics designed to provide both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, including:

  • Principles of health and well-being
  • Nutrition and healthy eating
  • Mental health and well-being awareness
  • Lifestyle choices and their long-term impact
  • The relationship between lifestyle factors and physical health, including the effects of sleep, stress, and physical activity levels
  • Modern living and its influence on lifestyle habits, including work-life balance and digital well-being
  • Communication and interpersonal skills

This course provides a valuable stepping stone to a variety of career opportunities with a wide range of employers, including:

  • Community health initiatives
  • Health and social care employers
  • Leisure and recreation facilities

  • Upon successful completion of this course, students can advance to SCQF Level 6 courses within the Sport and Health and Social Care departments.

Three Nat 4 subjects or completion of study at SCQF level 4 required for this course. Students should also meet the following criteria:

  • A keen interest in health, fitness, and lifestyle
  • A sociable personality with strong communication and leadership skills
  • Willingness to engage with other students and participate in group activities
  • Good written and verbal communication

• Please ensure you have an online account before starting your application
• If you created your account prior to November 2024, you will need to register a new account
• Before starting the application process, please ensure you already hold or are working towards the relevant entry qualifications required for the course you are applying for
• Ensure you use your own personal email address when creating your online account
• Once you have submitted your application, you will receive an automated email immediately
• If you do not receive an acknowledgement e-mail immediately, please check your SPAM/Junk folder
• Please include as much detail as possible in your personal statement such as: the reason you are applying, future career plans, previous employment, relevant experience, hobbies and interests
• Disclosing support needs in your application will not affect your chances of being offered a place on a course at Forth Valley College
• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
• If your application is unsuccessful, you will be offered support in finding a suitable alternative course
• Applicants who provide a mobile phone number on their application form will be sent a text reminder prior to the day of interview
