NC Applied Science

This course will start students on the road to becoming a lab technician or studying science at a higher level. Using state-of-the-art laboratory facilities, this course provides valuable experience, knowledge and technical skills for working in a laboratory environment. There is a strong emphasis on the development of good technical lab skills through practical work, lectures and case studies.

This course enables students to advance onto Highers, or NQ Level 6 and then HNC, HND or degree level study and to secure employment in science-related industry sectors.

  • Introduction to Microbiology

  • Trainee Laboratory Technician
  • Trainee Process Operator in the chemical or biotechnology industries

NC Applied Science Level 6

  • No formal entry requirements
  • Selection is by an interview process

• If your application is successful, you will be invited for interview. For January start courses interviews will be in Nov/Dec and interviews for August start courses will take place between February and May
