  • NC Creative Industries

    This innovative course will give students the opportunity to further develop their creativity and skills across the areas of photography, graphic design, sound production, media, and art and design.

    The course is highly practical and is delivered through a series of creative projects which are designed to prepare students for study in a specialist area, while giving them experience and an appreciation of a wide range of creative disciplines.

    Successful completion of this course will allow progression to an NC or HN level course in one of the specialist areas.

  • NC Creative Industries: Photography

    This course is designed to develop a foundation in the knowledge and skills required for progression to more advanced levels of study in photography. It is also suitable for those who wish to prepare themselves for initial entry to employment within the photo-imaging sector. Candidates will have opportunities to develop vocational and employability skills relevant for posts such as an assistant photographer or retail assistant.

    This programme is designed to provide candidates with an opportunity to develop both creative and technical skills in a variety of traditional and current disciplines that relate to photography and other creative industries. The course is also intended to develop candidates’ levels of awareness and appreciation of the basic technical and creative practices used in a variety of subject specialist areas, together with experience of co-operative working, presentation, exhibition and self promotion skills.

    The intention is to provide candidates with a broad foundation of basic photographic skills and experiences. It is a practice based programme of study that will develop candidates’ vocational skills, core skills and soft skills. It will also develop study skills relevant to successful articulation to Higher Education (HE) level study and/or employment at trainee level.

  • Newstart - Creative Industries

    This 19-week course is aimed at learners who want to experience a range of creative subjects whilst simultaneously improving their core skills. Learners will also attend workshops which will facilitate personal development.

    Personal learning plans will also provide support to learners when applying for future courses.

    Core skills sessions are a compulsory element of the course.

    This course - aimed at SCQF Level 4/5 - centres upon an introduction to creative industries and will involve practical workshops.

    Project work will be decided by a combination of the student cohort, staff expertise and available access to specialist accommodation.

    Project work can include: painting, drawing, digital media, photography, sculpture, music, radio and more.

  • NQ Access to Creative Industries

    This introductory course provides an opportunity to sample a range of creative subject areas. Delivered in a friendly, studio-based environment, it involves practical creative project work.

    Students will develop the skills and knowledge required for progression to NC Level 5/6 study in a range of subjects at Forth Valley College. Working across disciplines such as art and design, media and sound production, students will be able to develop a broad range of skills, which will prepare them for more specialised study.

  • NC Creative Industries: Art & Design

    This is a foundation, entry level,  SCQF Level 6 Art & Design course that introduces students to a broad range of art and design subjects and helps to build the skills necessary for further study

    NC Creative Industries: Art & Design is an entry level course designed to ignite your passion for art and design while equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to get started in the dynamic world of the creative industries. The course will take you on a journey through exciting projects within a range of Art & Design Disciplines.

    Emphasis will be placed on building creative skills across a range of projects with basic research and critical skills embedded.

    Successful candidates can continue to develop specialist skills in a range of art and design based HND courses.
