A local teenager hopes Modern Apprenticeship (MA) Week 2017 (6-10 March) will inspire more young people to find out more about the innovative programme.

Vincent Sweeney (19) from Condorrat  - who is currently doing a four year Wood Machining MA with Stockwell Ltd  a staircase design and construction company based in Westfield, Cumbernauld, said:

“I will attend Forth Valley Campus one day a week for three years while I am doing my MA and I would definitely recommend it. The lecturers are amazing and supportive and help to make learning the theory and new skills very enjoyable.

“Stockwell, my employers, are brilliant and the experience of learning from a great bunch of professional tradesmen there is I am also able to incorporate the things I learn at college into the work that I do with them.

“At the end of the day I feel that everyone should have a trade and it is rewarding to learn this through the MA programme. The best bit for me is learning something new every day and meeting new people at the college.

“I would definitely recommend the MA programme to anyone. It is always good to have something to fall back on and I think people should give it a go.”
