Vanessza Bobakne Gaal (41) from Falkirk has praised Forth Valley College for giving her confidence in her English language skills to allow her to study for a degree in the subject she loves.
Vanessza, said: “As English is not my first language, I started with an ESOL class to improve my English then a couple years later I on to a Level 5 access science programme and I had a good experience. Then I was planning to continue on course on the HNC Applied Biological Sciences, but I got the option to transfer to my current course the BA Applied Biological Sciences.
“The Falkirk Campus is a very modern and big facility that has a lot of courses to offer and it has a verity of ages and nationalities. The lecturers are nice, and they are always there when anyone needs them, they treat everyone equally.
“My experience of studying at the college has benefited as it has helped me improve on my communication skills and helped me develop my confidence. By studying Biology at the college, I have a lot of experiment classes, which teach me working safely at the laboratory and this will help me in the future.
“I would recommend this college because it offers a range of different classes. While I have been on this course, I have met a lot of new people and I got to expand my social skills and my confidence.
“I would also recommend choosing college because you can achieve whatever you want to do in the future, by getting your qualifications and it gives you a lot of options on what you want to study.
“When in August you get your certificate in the mail, you realise that all your hard work has paid off.
