Paulina Majerowska has managed to secure her dream job after graduating from Forth Valley College.

Paulina (26) from Sauchie completed her HNC in Childhood Practice in June 2020 and is now working at Westquarter Primary School in the Nursery class as an Early Years Officer.

The winner of Most Promising Student in the Department of Care, Sport and Construction for 2020, said: “Since graduating from college, I have been applying for jobs within the Early Years sector. I was successful in getting an interview with Falkirk Council, and I have been offered a job  as an Early Years Officer at Westquarter Primary School Nursery which is my dream job and I am very pleased with.

“I chose to study at Forth Valley College as it offered the course, I wanted to do which would allow me a good start for my future job and the Alloa Campus was local to me.

“The facilities at the College are very easy to access. The library has a wide range of books and e-books needed for my studies. The use of computers and laptops at the campus, as well as longer opening hours, allowed to me to study in peace, which is what I needed to finish HNC Childhood Practice course.

“Each lecturer who I had the pleasure to meet and learn from, has been very helpful all the way through my course. Due to English being my second language I have sometimes needed a little bit extra support, but every lecturer has been more than happy to help to make sure that I could achieve my qualifications. The lecturers at the campus have an amazing knowledge and are very keen to share what they know. It has been an amazing opportunity to be able to learn from them.

“Throughout my time at College I have gained skills and qualities such as being more confident, especially when it comes to speaking up. It also helped me with my organisational skills, as managing college, being a mum and working is not easy. Studying at college has also provided me with a good start in my career. Part of the course meant we needed to have placement at nursery for two days a week. This has given me a great opportunity to gain experience, which has been very beneficial while looking for a job.

“Thanks to Forth Valley College, I have been able to get the qualifications needed to start my dream career.

“I would recommend the College to anyone who is looking for a career in the Early Years Sector. The qualifications gained at FVC are essential in getting a job as an Early Years Practitioner. FVC is easily accessible for anyone, it has a wide range of courses as well as wide range of support and help. It is a great option, even for people with children as it offers help in covering childcare costs.

“The best bit for me was meeting people who are passionate in the same sector and gaining knowledge which I would not be able to gain anywhere else. But being able to study in quiet surroundings and getting help anytime needed was also brilliant for me. My favorite part of the course has been the placement, where I have been able to gain experience and meet people working in an Early Years sector.”

Summing up her experience in three words Paulina, said: “Job, career and friends.”
