Investors in People CEO Paul Devoy used evening courses in maths and business studies at college in Falkirk to propel him onto a successful career path.
Paul (53) originally from Polmont failed his O’Grade (Nat 5) maths twice at school, but with encouragement from his mum, he successfully completed it at Falkirk Technical College in 1986 – the forerunner of Forth Valley College. He then studied for a HNC Business Studies course over three years (1988-91) in the evening, which enabled him to pursue a stellar management career.
Paul, said: “The facilities were nothing like they are now. However, the lecturers were good and I appreciated them giving up their time after work to take the classes
“Studying at the College genuinely changed my life. Without my HNC in Business Studies I could not have gone on to do a Post Graduate Course in HR and would not have the been able to progress in my career. I am now the CEO of a UK Superbrand and the College gave me a brilliant start in my career.
“Forth Valley College gave me the confidence and the skills to progress both at work and with further qualifications. I would recommend Forth Valley College as it offers high quality courses that will help you realise your potential.
“The best bit for me was having the opportunity to learn alongside my day job. College transformed my life!”
